I've been working on my WW1/WW2 collection, mainly the bolt actions. I recently re-purchased a Mosin to replace the one I sold yearrrs ago for $150. The modern price of these rifles got me thinking. Every gun show I go to, there's always stacks on stacks of Carcanos, usually in the $250 range. It occurs to me that if I intend to put one in my collection, now would be the ideal time to do it.
Does anyone know a good resource for assessing the quality of these rifles? What makes to look for, what model performs better, etc? My friend has one that would be more accurate at 100 yards if he threw it at the target instead of shooting it, but I understand a good Carcano can be quite mind blowing (sorry)
