Wanting a .22 semi auto pistol to train, is the TX22 the holy grail or a pig in lipstick?
Post Body

As the title says, looking to grab a semi auto .22 with a similar manual of arms to my g48. Initially was leaning towards the g44 but after seeing some reviews and the price point I'm not too sure if I want to go that route. Started leaning towards the tx22 but I just called my preferred LGS and they had nothing good to say about it and said they refuse to carry anything Tarus because they only want to sell firearms that'll last.

Now I know tarus has numerous qc issues, does this carry over to the tx22 or are they just kind of being fudds about it? They tried steering me towards a ruger mk3 or mk4 which I like but I'm really interested in something I can use to train and practice with in preparation for getting my CCW. Ideally I'd just shoot the g48 more but 9mm isn't the cheapest considering the amount of rounds I want to send down range before I try to take the qualifier.

I know cry once buy once but my price limit for a .22 is about $250 right now. The tx22 is slightly higher than I want to pay but I'm willing to shell out the extra cash for it if it's reliable.

What do y'all think, avoid the tx22 at all costs? Get the ruger? Or maybe switch gears entirely and get a p17 and some 10 round mags since I'm in a mag limit state? Or just say fuck it and get a $100 heritage revolver for plinking fun, won't help what I want to train too much I think but at least I'll be able to plink away guilt free.

The rebate tarus is offering currently really makes me want tob get the tx22 but I'm uncertain how to proceed now.
