Front camera stopped working. Troubleshooting tips?

The camera app crashes anytime I try to switch to the front camera.
I've cleared cache and data of the camera app to no avail. I've done a factory reset and it's still not working.
Am I screwed or is there a fix?
Phone show signs of water damage so warranty exchange is out of question.
