I don't have a particularly long history of smartphones. 3GS->4S->Nexus 5->LG G2
Nexus 5 being my first experience with android definitely spoiled me a bit, but with my N5 quickly dying in the last few months, it was time to move on. I searched and searched for the newest and greatest and honestly came back a bit disgusted. Massive phones EVERYWHERE and with the new Nexus 5X having enough bezel to make an iphone blush, I knew that wasn't any option either. I wanted something different, but much better in the battery department.
Kept saying to myself "Give me a phone no bigger than an N5, a good battery, and 1080 screen and I"ll buy it instantly" Thought I'd put my money where my mouth is and try a phone that met my criteria.
Anyway, some initial thoughts:
I never knew what MKBHD meant about a phone being "slippery." The moment I picked up the G2, I knew. Even when I had a firm grip on the phone it feels like i'm holding a bar of soap. I ordered a skin within 30 minutes.
I think I felt a blood vessel pop when I went to uninstall facebook and it said "Sorry, you can't remove this"
The back buttons were SUPER weird at first, after some grip readjustments, I can deal, but I don't know how I feel about them.
Ooooh.....IR blaster.
The non stock experience definitely cheapens the overall feel of the phone, but I do like some of the changes.
GPS :(
Battery :D
Anyway, I am left with a few questions and hopefully you guys can help me out.
I don't think I can handle stock G2 for too long. I've never rooted or...done nay of that. I know there is a lot of guides out there so I won't ask you for that. The one I see mentioned around here a lot though is Cloud, is there any reason its so prevalent?
I already ordered a skin, I never rolled with a screen protector for my N5, do I need one for the LG G2?
Is there anything else worth mentioning to a new G2 user? Oh, and I have an unlocked AT&T D800 32GB. I use AT&T in the U.S.
Thanks!
