[Help] Getting a G2

I used to have a G2 near when it first came out but due to some unfortunate circumstances, I had to switch to a different phone.
I'm currently looking to get a new phone but I remembered how much I liked the G2 and was curious about the current software versions (stock and not), and plans going in the future and such.
I loved the battery, look of the phone and the size was pretty great too. If there's a different phone like the G2 that you'd recommend, that'd be real helpful too
