I'm not gay, but my parents are extremely bigotous and it gets on my nerves, hearing day after day about how gays are destroying society. I've listed some of their "points" below. Keep in mind the following views are in no way my own...
-The basic structure of civilization is the family. With gay marriage legalized, the "family" structure is ruined. The father is supposed to work, the mother is supposed to stay home with the child. With two fathers or mothers, society cannot... exist?
-Two gay parents can make the child think it's "okay" to be gay, therefore raising the amount of gays and lowering childbirth and productivity as a nation.
-The US Constitution was based on the Bible, which apparently outlaws gay marriage. If I were to compare their arguments to, say, an argument against interracial marriage, they'd just say that the Bible never condemned it therefore it's okay.
-Religion is needed for civilization and is the basis of all laws and morals. Without it, there would be no laws or morals.
-AIDs is found predominantly in the gay community, and is spreading rapidly due to gay sex.
-Gay marriage is a symbol of cultural downfall, considering our culture was "built" on Christianity. Legalizing it will result in that culture disappearing.
-More gay rights will create more gay children, keep in mind they don't believe that you can be "born gay"
-The slippery slope argument. Even when I say it's fine if it's two consenting individuals, they'll slippery-slope that, too
I'm probably missing a lot. This article was recently taped to the refrigerator, so I'm assuming they based many points on it. Have fun: http://washingtontimes.com/news/2012/may/10/obamas-homosexual-america-833943949/
Tell me if the link doesn't work, I'm in a phone.
Also, they won't believe anything without proof. Including it would be appreciated.
