Background: this was a school assignment there was no proof reading involved so it's probably bad grammar and punctuation wise, but I had fun and I’m proud of it.

Here's the assignment rules  Create your own, original longer, more developed Classical Argument for “How to Eat [a] Food”

Your title should be original and creative

Your idea should be original and creative and unorthodox.

Your argument should be original and creative and engaging and pique my interest and persuade me to try your suggestion or advice

And the assignment.

In Defense of Preference Food is an essential part of living, after all it's one of three important factors in us remaining conscious. The question is not what, why, or when to eat, but how. You see, consuming the sustenance necessary for survival is a very serious subject matter, as there can only ever be one way to do something and things can never change ever. Fun poking aside, there really is no “right” way to eat food. There are wrong ways like eating something directly off the floor, but preference is a spectrum, immutable, and sometimes necessary.

Now what do I mean by preference is a spectrum? Well it’s quite simple, it's not black and white. Some people like tomatoes sliced up and in their burgers, some people like them as a sauce, others eat them like an apple and some can't stand them or can’t have them due to medical issues. If you think food can only be eaten a certain way then you're just plain wrong. If you're willing to accept that you only like food a certain way but are open to letting other people experiment with their food preferences and find out what they like then you're okay.

What about being immutable and necessary? Preference exists everywhere in our clothes, hair, and material objects. It makes us happy when we have things we like. You can’t force people to like something just because your holy book of tomato sauce recipes condemns the use of tomatoes as a solid object in your food. It’s not up to you to decide for someone else what they like. For some it's necessary to have those preferences as if we just blindly trusted food each time without preference we wouldnt know what to eat, we would wind up unhappy and it can be dangerous. Say you have IBS and acid reflux, tomatoes will cause both to flair up leaving you both unhappy and in pain. Those who have those conditions probably don’t eat tomatoes all that often due to preference.

Now some of you may say “won’t somebody please think of the children”, and I don't want my children to pick up your eating habits and become a picky eater. “In any other circumstance you might have had a point there.*”  Except you probably have some weird eating habits too, some that others find disgusting, but we don't shove it in your face how wrong that is. Your child isn't going to pick up on another person's habits unless they already liked it in which case they were going to experiment and figure it out eventually.

Preferences are not to be questioned by anyone but the preference holder. It is a spectrum that cannot be confined neatly into two categories. It is necessary and immutable that we like what we like for the reasons we like it. You just need to be more accepting. Thank you for reading my food to LGBTQ argument allegory.
