So, my parents are both pretty progressive and I genuinely think they would support me if I came out, at least my mom told me years ago that they would. They also have been very supportive of lgbt issues and have been very polite to lgbt family members, coworkers, friends, etc.
So, I’m not here to bash my parents too much. But sometimes my dad uses homosexual slurs (not the worst ones, but still) as a joke because he heard them use it on Monty Python (in a skit that was making fun of bigots). I don’t think he’s necessarily doing it out of hate, maybe he’s uncomfortable using the actual word, or something. It just makes me wonder if he’s uncomfortable around lgbt people, and if it would freak him out coming from his own son.
