My nine-year-old daughter asked if we could go on a walk after lunch. She only does that when thereās something she wants to talk to me about in private. My brave baby took a deep breath and just came right out with it... āMom, I realized about a month ago that I like girls, not boys, and I wanted you to know.ā I told her that it was brave and Iām glad she told me. That it doesnāt matter to me, I love her and all I ever want for her, all that will ever matter to me, is that sheās happy. That other people might not understand but thatās 100% a reflection of them, not her. It was unexpected though. And it hurts my heart for her knowing how difficult it will make things for her. How do I support her? I know I canāt make things easy, but can I make them not-so-hard?
