Hey friends!
I had a conversation with a friend recently who struggled to accept someone’s non-binary identity because a) they struggled with the idea of non-binary and b) the person only appeared to be socially transitioning, and my friend thinks you have to medically transition to be valid (facepalm).
Luckily, the friend is academic, and places a lot of value in scientific articles. I’ve been able to show him some articles about brain scans to show that brains aren’t binary, and so he’s coming around on that front, but I’m struggling to find some scholarly articles surrounding social transitions reducing dysphoria. They all seem to be first hand accounts which isn’t going to be good enough evidence for my friend.
Can anyone help?
Cheers!
