I don't know if anyone else has been experiencing this, but I've been experiencing a lot of people referring to me as "a trans". It feels skeevy and like I'm being reduced to how I was physically born and not seen as who I am. It feels even more transphobic than mtf to me. I'd honestly rather be called a slur.
Trans is an adjective, not a noun. It would be the same as referring to someone as "a [race]", which would be inherently racist.
Where did this even start?
Edit: race not ethnicity.
The group that I've been experiencing this with have been English Speaking Cis Queer Women in the US ranging from 24 to about 40, well within a reasonable age to feel they should know better.
