Back story, my 12 year old (enby) was given a cellphone and one of the conditions was a periodic phone check. Google searchs and maybe a couple texts.
Everything looks good. The kid is standing next to me. I notice a text talking about being trans and hand the phone back. Do I ask them about it? Just want them to know they have support no matter what.
ETA- You all are awesome! Thank you for being kind. I realize now it was wrong to look through their phone if even for 30 seconds, with them standing next to me. I think I'm projecting due to being bullied as a teen and high anxiety. I will talk to my kid AND apologize.
No more phone checks. Much love to you all
