Hello all!

Hope you liked my little flavor text above :) My name is Luke 27yrs old, I'm looking for a few people (ideally 3 or 4, 18 / LGBT-Friendly) to play a Savage Worlds (a good break from 5e!) for maybe 3 sessions - one adventure - in a flavor akin to Conan the Barbarian (without the terrible 1970s tropes of sexism/racism/cultural insensitivity). I really love the flavor of Conan the Barbarian and how brutal the world is, but WOW the movie/franchise itself didn't age well. Just want to address this up-front - I'm looking for the inclusivity of Critical Role/modern progressive D&D, but with the world flavor of Conan.

Another note is I have about 15 years of experience running mostly D&D, but I'm running Savage Worlds for the first time and very down to teach players a different, slightly simpler system.

That being said, I really want characters to fit into the flavor of Conan - all human with strong motivations that are wholly your own making but that make sense/fit with the themes of Conan the Barbarian. Conan is a Sword and Sorcery world. Some tropes and content warnings for what is in a brutal world like this:

• Barbarian Heroes
• Less focus on moral heroes (this isn't an evil campaign, and also doesn't mean no good people either! - plots are often more focused on personal quests and motivations rather than "save the world."
• Sorcery (magic) is seen as evil, and usually is.
• Sorcery (magic) is exceedingly rare, and wars are waged for single magical weapons.
• Eldritch monstrosities / almost Cthulhu-like monsters
• Brutal world with only a few major cities, mostly wasteland
• Slavery (not looking into diving into this, more as a backdrop, slavery in this world is NEVER based on a specific race/ethnicity of people)
• War is glorious for many
• Very low fantasy
• Very low technology - iron age

The world of Swords and Sorcery is really never silly, but I love jokes and fun at my table obviously lol. If you're interested in making a character named "Bilbo Swaggins" or something though, this game might not be for you necessarily. Not looking to run a 100% serious game, but want to prioritize immersion and storytelling within this genre. If you are applying please know that I am looking for people interested in making very motivated characters. My favorite place to be in as a GM is reacting to what my players want to do.

Not looking for rules lawyers, powergamers, or people not interested in a slightly laid back table learning and not 100% sticking to the rules. Any racism/homophobia/sexism/isms are an autoban obviously.
