So roll20 just came out with the RotRL Anniversary Edition, and me being me, I had to pick it up... and now I want to run it.
So I need some players.
Hereās where it gets a bit trickier, though.
I donāt have anything like the time necessary to actually be able to hold traditional sessions. I have a full time job, romantic partners and friends and family and a weekly game group irl. So the game is going to be entirely text based, on Discord.
With that in mind, Iāll say that you kind of need to be a decent writer for me to consider you.
Iām not looking for Hemingways, here, but if your response to an enemy suddenly appearing is always just āI attack itā, this is probably not going to be the game for you. I want people that want to get into colorful descriptions and enjoy really roleplaying characters.
Roll20 will be used for tactical maps and combat.
Since RotRL is one of Paizoās first products, it was made without many of the non-Core additions in mind. In that spirit, not all material will be available for this game.
Here are some details; All Core rulebook material is available. All Advanced Playerās Guide Classes are available except for Summoners. Investigator, Magus and Swashbuckler classes are also available. Most feats, spells and archetypes will be available but I might veto things if theyāre inappropriate to the setting or poorly balanced. Background skills will be used. Rogues, Monks and Barbarians may be Unchained or vanilla. All Core races are available, as well as Aasimar, Dhampir, Tieflings, Changelings, Kitsune and Samsarans. Alternate racial traits are okay. Racial variants and variant abilities will be case by case. The Elephant in the Roomfeat tax rules will be in effect. Traits will be used, as well as Drawbacks. Non-evil alignments only. Chaotic neutral alignments will be heavily scrutinized, Iāve had problems with people playing that alignment before. DM me if you have questions about that. No third party material other than the feat tax rules will be utilized. I might consider VMC. Players should be able to contribute at least four times per week. Preference will be given to players who have not played through the campaign before. Any player must be over 18 years of age and comfortable with some dark subject material, though I will say I have a hard limit at my table for any form of sexual assault. I donāt want that in my games.
That should be about all of the salient details. I donāt want you to create full characters yet; if youāre interested, Iād like you to create a 10-minute Background. General race and class thoughts for your character should be included there.
A playerās guide to the campaign can be found here.
If you have questions, you can either DM me or ask me here! Iām looking for four players. Hereāa a bit of a blurb for the AP;
From the idyllically peaceful coastal town of Sandpoint to an ancient lost city at the top of the world, Rise of the Runelords takes a party of adventurers from 1st to over 18th level and delves into the mysteries of Varisia's ancient past. Millennia ago, the powerful empire of Thassilon ruled the land, dominated by despotic runelords who maintained their power through harnessing the power of rune magic. Thought gone forever, the workings of Thassilon are not so far beneath the surface and one of the runelords plans a return to power. Only the brave adventurers stand in his way.
If selected I will give you further instructions for full character creation. I look forward to your submissions!
