[Online][5thEd][MST] to start and then transition to [Offline][CO][Lakewood, Denver, Parker, Arvada][5thEd] once the group is established.

Hello everyone.

I've tried to post a thread on here before and it didn't turn out all that well, so I've decided instead to attempt putting together my own campaign for 5th edition and try to establish a group in the Lakewood or Parker areas.

We are going to use roll20.net for the online portion and then we will move offline once we've established the group and made that decision as a group to take the game offline.

The reason for having the game online at first is to allow individuals to join the campaign and get started right away; if they enjoy the game with the group, then we can continue to discuss taking the game offline. If that person doesn't enjoy the group dynamic, that's okay; there is no travel commitment, no trying to make an awkward excuse to get out of the session, etc., so it will hopefully allow for a comfortable environment for everyone to enjoy.

Great idea, but where to begin and where do you, the viewer at home, come into this situation? Well, I'm glad that I asked that question for you because for my role, I will be the DM, and since this will be my first attempt as DM, I will be researching as much as possible, but also remembering that there are other people involved here.

For yourself, I would suggest going to roll20.net website, and start familiarizing yourself with the application and follow up with some youtube tutorials. I'm looking through a few myself, and I link a few of the better ones on this thread as I find them. There's also looking at the 5th edition rules and thinking about what character you want to play in both the online and offline campaign, or if you want to have two different characters for online versus offline.

Most importantly though, a reply on this thread would be crucial. At the moment, I only have one maybe and another interested in this concept. Therefore, I'm slowly building up my knowledge base to prepare for my role as DM and to also devote time to developing the story. The more people that are interested, the more I'll be investing of my own time into this campaign development, but also asking you what you want to achieve in the game.

Before closing out this thread, I will also add that I'd like to keep this group as a 21 . We'll try to have the sessions on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday time and as we continue to meet online, we'll discuss what we want in an offline campaign session.

Thank you for reading this thread and please leave a comment below if you are interested.

Thanks!

EDIT #1: I think there is enough interest that we will try to have the game starting next Friday. I'll have more details tomorrow, along with what to expect and what time to join.

Thanks!

EDIT #2: Update will be provided by noon MDT today, 9/13/16. Sorry for the delay.

EDIT #3:

Here's what you need to know:

When: 9/16/16 @ 6:30 P.M. MDT

Where: roll20.net - I'll send out follow up info on Friday morning.

For the game, you'll need to have a character created. Hold off on creating backstories for now, and I'll get into that later on.

Starting Character Level: 2 Class: Anything out of PHB. We are going to stick with the core books for now. Point Buy: 28 Everyone has the starting equipment for their class, the max starting gold for their class, (e.g. 5d4 x 10, would be 200), and then plus another 50 gold on top of that. You can purchase anything out of the PHB with the gold available to you.

I'm expecting the session to last between two to three hours, depending on how far we get as a group, and we'll probably take a break in the middle.

Let me know if there are any questions and I'll have more details as we get closer to the end of the week.

Thanks!
