Hello you Snozzberries!
I don't do these as often as I like, but come Christmas, January and February, I find myself having a spell more time and motivation. I'm an experienced DM, I've 2x two year long games, numerous one shots, several constant groups and a circle of players which game multiple times a week, which you will be given the option to remain with and possibly find a game alongside, but when the game concludes, you will probably (more than likely) be able to seek your own table, or if you are particularly outgoing, DM your own. It really is a question of whether or not you want to DM, not if you know the rules well enough.
About me, I'm 30something, computer tech guy, boring af, and I do nerdy stuff in my spare time.
The purpose of this game is to teach newbies, or people who are not confident enough to delve into the books by themselves and prefer to learn whilst in the company of other newbies. I like to think I give back to a community which has provided me with so many hours of joy. This game will be for absolute beginners, will go very slowly, and I will explain very thoroughly. Experienced players will be bored to death. Hopefully when we are done you will feel more comfortable casting off by yourself in search for a table. Anyway.
Here's the informative Checklisty thing:
Game type: Absolutely free, no strings.
Time: 20:00 CET on Friday.
Duration: 3 hours
Length: 4-8 sessions.
Party size: 6 very brand new people, who will need things to be repeated to 10 times before they remotely understand the material. 'tis the way of newbie 5E groups, so be prepared.
Required resources: Roll20 Discord for voice chat. I will turn on my camera, but you don't have to.
Mandatory Requirements: That you've LESS THAN 5 sessions of DnD experience under your belt.
What are we playing?: DnD 5e. Campaign name is LMOP, don't google it if you don't want spoilers. It's the Wizards of the Coast recommended adventure for new players.
House rules: PHB only RAW, for simplicity sake. (You don't need to know what those are.)
So how's this going to go down: I select 6 from the survey I'll send below. My criteria is that the party be representative of different people, that are not crazy, not trolls, not bigots, can speak english and aren't talking from an upside down bathtub, and some more things, which you are more than welcome to ask about.
We start on Friday the 1st of December with Session 0. There I will illustrate to yall what DnD 5e is, what to expect on your own table when you eventually find one, we will go over all 12 classes, 10 races, concepts such as Min-maxing, the king of player you want to be, and if there is time, begin creating characters. I will take each and everyone of you by the hand and very painstakingly tell you where to put every single one and zero on the character sheet and why. If we run out of time, the Friday after that one we will continue. Until all 6 have some very basic knowledge, a character (which they still probably won't entirely understand, and I'll have to play it for you the first 5 sessons, which is OK, and has happened before). When the adventure completes sometime around February, we will go our separate ways and I will ask yall to do this yourselves, in 10 years time. There are no strings attached.
I probably won't contact all of you but keep an eye on this post. If it it says that it is Closed, or the survey does not accept responces that means that the recruitment is closed and keep an eye out for me around May-ish when I have more time.
The internet is vast. And full of strangeness and I fear it.
