Post Body

Hi! I'm Currypotter. 20-something male seeking a table to join. I acknowledge that throwing a post out like this is kind of a crapshoot, but figured that if there is a table looking to add an experienced player to their midst, it's worth trying to find them.

I'm an active DM at the moment who is seeking to join a table to get some play-time under my belt. You can check out my previous post for the kind of DM style I do, but obviously, doesn't give much insight on me as a player. So, without further ado:

  • I've been playing 5e for something like 6 years. I played all through college, through COVID, and of course right now
  • I'm an inclusive player. Topics like bigotry, racism, sexism, sexual content at tables, etc., are not for me. I don't allow that stuff at my table and I won't bring that disrespect to your table
  • I'm very communicative about availability and generally am consistent with my schedule. I get annoyed when my players flake on my last second, so I understand the burn. But, after playing for 6 years, I know how to keep myself available once I commit to a weekly play time. Usually I'm only missing sessions due to illness, work, family, or unexpected emergencies
  • I am available Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays for games! Tuesdays is when my table meets, and Fridays/Saturdays I keep open for IRL social obligations
  • I'm an initiative taker! When the group is stuck in a moment of indecision or choice paralysis, I'm happy to jump in, call the shot, and get us moving again! Things getting a little stale in the tavern? I start something up. Stuck on where to go next? I'll just march my swanky ass right along to try and get things moving again.
  • The characters I like to play! My most recent interest has been leaning really hard into class and subclass flavor. Shadow sorcerer? More like seventh son of a seventh son except I'm a bastard child. Djini warlock? I'm a desert man and dress the part, and suffer tremendously in the cold. Illusion wizard? DEX is my highest skill and I act more like an assassin than a wizard. Samurai fighter? Try ex-military turned political savant. You get the gist. Trying to sink my teeth into the idea behind a subclass without just taking the flavor text at face value
  • Aspects of D&D I enjoy. Combat and crunchy dungeon crawling is probably my favorite, which I acknowledge is a more old-fashioned thing. A lot of D&D today focuses on roleplay, and while I happily engage as it is a core part of the game, my favorite does end up being combat. Interesting, engaging combat that has goals besides "kill" and "don't die." Big advocate for the tavern brawler fighter who gets creative with their combat strategies and uses the environment around them
  • Aspects of D&D I don't enjoy: shopping sessions, romance (others at the table are more than welcome to engage! I'll happily watch the story unfold, I just don't personally partake), sexual-type content, evil campaigns (call me a prune but I like a bit of good vs evil and being on the side of light, or morally grey and trying to define what "good" even is, basically just don't want to be the assholes of the world)
  • And finally, respect for my fellow players and my DM. D&D isn't a plug and play hobby as we all know. And so with that time dedication comes heaps of respect, and I try my best to show it at every session. Note taking, engaging with NPCs, taking your plot hooks, keeping quiet when another player is shining, playing support in a session rather than trying to be the hero, aligning my character interests with the party to avoid unnecessary discord, understanding my character sheet and having combat turns planned as best I can ahead of time, and whatever else respect means to you and your table I will try and emulate for you, so long as the respect is going both ways

So, that's me. If you happen to have a spot at your table or know someone who does, please shoot me a message here on reddit, chat or DM works. I have discord, roll20, and dndbeyond accounts, though no premium/subscription on any of them. I'm familiar with those 3 platforms but am open to learning new tools as well.

Cheers folks, happy dice rolling!
