Hi guys. About 45 minutes ago a TWC sales rep. came to my door to try to sell me on some service. He said he knew that we were current customers and had internet service with the company, but was wondering who we had TV service with. When I said that we didn't have TV service and only used Netflix, he pretended to be shocked and said "isn't that illegal? Didn't Congress just pass a law making that illegal?" When I said no, he continued to press the issue until I said 'no' one final time. Then he tried to sell me phone service and I said that we were happy with the service we have now. After some pleasantries, he left.
Now, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced these kinds of high-pressure, deceptive practices? I'm worried that the less-informed citizens of Lexington might fall for a ploy like this, particularly the elderly or less-informed. I've already emailed Mayor Gray's office and am considering lodging a complaint with the attorney general. What do you guys think?
Edit: I should have said this earlier. If you HAVE experienced these kinds of tactics before, you should probably email the mayor and file a complaint with the attorney general. We don't need this kind of crap in our town.
Edit 2: I got a reply earlier today from the Mayor's office. They said that they had informed Mayor Gray of the situation, and had also forwarded the complaint to Lt. Roger Holland of the Lexington police and Roger Daman, Lexington's telecommunications liason who logs all TWC-related complaints and who is in regular communication with the company.
