How long did it take your sexual function to return to normal after discontinuation?
Post Body

I was on Lexapro for about three months, and I decided to stop because of erectile dysfunction, genital numbness, and anorgasmia. I tapered, but very quickly. I was on 20mg, and if I remember correctly, I halved that dose for about a week and then stopped. I didn't have a lot of bad side-effects in other ways, but my sexual dysfunction got worse. I'm 39 if that makes a difference.

It's now been over two months since I stopped, and while there have been slight improvements, it's still pretty bad. I have been on Lexapro before, and tapered just as quickly without significant problems, so I didn't think there would be an issue. I remember that my sexual function didn't return to normal immediately, but I think I would remember if it took this long.

I started seeing a girl not long after stopping. She's absolutely gorgeous but I've barely been able to fuck her. When I have, it's been with the help of viagra or cialis, and even then, it's inconsistent in how well it works. When I do manage, I struggle to ejacualte.

It's hard to find good info on how long it can take to get better. Drs just completely deny that it could be because of the Lexapro and want to send me to a psychologist. I've always had a high sex drive, even when I'm stressed, and the only time I've ever had sexual problems is during or after being on Lexapro. I won't deny that there could be other contributing factors, but the simplest explanation is that it's caused by the meds.

Most sources say discontinuation symptoms last a couple of weeks, but others say they can last months. It's hard to find info specifically regarding sexual dysfunction in this context, and googling it always leads me to pssd stories, which just exacerbates my anxiety and frustration about the whole issue.

So I'm wondering how long people find it normally takes? Is two months a long time? How long before I have to face that it could be a long term problem?

At the current slow rate of improvement, I feel like it would take a year or more to get back to normal, so...

If it took you a while to get your mojo back, was the improvement linear? Or did you have only slight improvements for a while and then get a fast recovery?

If I had an idea of a timeline, I'd have something to look forward to, but at the moment I'm just in limbo, and it's making me miserable. :(
