Anxiety spikes and panic during job search
Post Body

Just graduated college with my B.S. degree after taking over a year off due to medical issues. Am now on the job market, and this anxiety disorder is (as always) kicking me in the butt. I'm already generally anxious, and simply reviewing a job posting sets off this dreadful heavy feeling in my chest. Anything related to scheduling a job interview is panic-inducing.

What I've been doing is setting 20 min timers for viewing job posts/applying/refining my resume. Then doing a breathing exercise after (4-7-8 breathing). Then I procrastinate as much as I can. Repeat.

I have been on 10 mg/day escitalopram (generic lexapro) for 6 months for anxiety and depression. I'm less depressed now, but I'm not sure how much it helps for my anxiety. I'm planning to speak to a medical provider about raising my dose to 20 mg/day.

How did you get through this? Advice very much appreciated. Have a wonderful day and night.
