How do I get rid of black bars around my video's?

I've noticed that all of the video's that I upload from my computer have black bars around them no matter what I do. I don't even know how they get there in the first place but it's really annoying and I don't know how to fix it. If anyone could provide some insight as to how to fix this/what might be causing the problem, please let me know.
