WHAT IN HELL AM I DOIN WRONG, i cant join modded lobbies why!?!?!

I keep trynna join modded servers but all i get is disconnected and people cant join me when i host. I tried switching off shotgun and hook and still nothing. whats going on, and yes i updated the mods. did i mess up something?
EDIT: stuff kinda works update a few mods but sometimes cant join otheer lobbies and had an issue where otheres couldn't join mine too
