Hi all! Just found out about this subreddit and thought I'd give it a shot since dating apps are a hellscape of scammers, bots, and ghosts.

So, my name's Sarah, I'm a 39 year old transgender female from Baltimore, MD in the United States. I've been out as trans and lesbian for about three years now. My immediate family has been very supportive, extended family, well, let's just say we're not on speaking terms, lol. A bit about me, I'm unapologetically a geek and a nerd rolled into one. I love playing board and video games. With the former, I've got pretty expansive tastes ranging from some lighter games (Code Names, Splendor, Azul, Mysterium) to heavier ones (Lords of Waterdeep, Age of Discovery, Wingspan, Scythe, Everdell) and always love learning new ones! I'm also a forever DM to a couple groups of friends, not that I'm complaining, I love developing campaigns! Most of my friends here are also into gaming and we have a weekly neighborhood board game night at a local bar. In terms of video games, I'm a sucker for anything with a good story and any of the Soulsborne games (I'm psyched for the Shadow of the Erdtree next month!). Some recent/all time favorite games that are more narratively driven include Baldur's Gate 3, Divinity Original Sin 2, Fallout New Vegas, and the first 4/5 of Mass Effect 3. I'm also a fan of Stellaris and Stardew Valley.

OK, what else? I like to think that I'm pretty good cook with a versatile skillset. I can make anything from lasagna to chicken tikka masala to jambalaya to stir fry. Part of that is because I've been trying to be more health conscious the last several years. I've lost about 130 pounds in the last year and a half and am nearly at my goal weight. I'm also a cat mom to two amazing kitties named Ranni and Rykie (yes I named them after the Elden Ring characters, like I said, giant geek, lol). My love languages are acts of kindness and words of affirmation, when I'm with someone I like to make sure how much I care about them and try to build them up (and I expect the same from a partner as well! Not to get into it here, but I've definitely had relationships where they've made me feel like garbage).

In terms of what I'm looking for, as cliche as it is, I'm looking for a best friend (not that I'm expecting that to happen immediately of course! It takes time to get to know someone). I'm looking for someone who loves to game, would join me on riffing bad movies and TV shows, and have long conversations about random things. I'm also politically progressive and like to stay well informed on what's happening in the world, so I'd like to also meet someone like minded.
