In my view it's essentially a false dichotomy that frames the same thing in different ways to further entrench perceived differences between "masculine" and "feminine" women, and also men and women.
Providing and protecting is "masculine" but it's essentially the same thing as nurturing which is "feminine". How can you nurture someone without providing something for them and how can you protect someone without nurturing them?
Femininity is about being in touch with your emotions apparently but true masculinity is also apparently about being strong enough to be vulnerable, which is essentially the same thing.
Masculinity is about leading and femininity is about letting yourself be led, but both people are equally as autonomous and active in their decision making at the end of the day.
I think masculine and feminine energy is just based on people taking the most common perceived traits of men and women and calling them energies, while making it seem like people on the opposite ends of the bell curve are somehow less of a woman. For example, for many reasons, you could say that there's a higher % of women who are fine with expressing to others when they're hurt. But other women are not, and they're not less womanly for not being like the perceived average woman.
To me masculine and feminine energy is basically about how well you adhere to what your culture thinks is most acceptable for men/women to do. It's a cultural phenomenon, not anything based in transcendent spirituality, at least in my view.
I think it's very irrelevant in the lesbian community and its kind of annoying to hear about lol
