Just picked Jerry up today. I have been coordinating with a woman who has been caring for him for about a year since her daughter went off to college.
I wasn’t sent any pictures, just told that he was friendly. When I got there I was given him and his enclosure. She said she has been feeding and watering him but has never touched him.
I said he will be in good care, thanked her, and went on my way. I’m not here to bash. Jerry was obviously fed, has a decent sized enclosure and she had good intentions and did the right thing by reaching out to me.
But my god this poor guys toes. All his front ones are just nubs. His back left foot is mostly ok but his back right foot is going to be losing two more toes, possibly three.
We had our initial removal of stuck shed. He was not happy but we did it at his pace and managed to get it cleaned up. He got a few good bites in, I don’t blame him one bit. I never realized how painful a gator roll from a Leo could be!
Aside from all of that, he is such a sweetie and seems to enjoy head pets. Jerry is currently resting after a long day and soon we will have him feeling better!
