Just call it a complex situation man. Going around killing people isn’t the solution, but just beating up Sozin and not keeping an eye on him was also a mistake. The solution is in the middle

Hindsight’s 20/20, but honestly Roku is too hard on himself. I know that nobody who argues that he’s a bad avatar would be willing to kill their best friend for making a town in another country, and even if he did, it wouldn’t be a good idea.
