Like a lot of LoD veterans, I make it a tradition to experience the story of this legendary game once in a while, but when I do, life just seems hallow for a while. I’ve moved on to playing Final Fantasy Crisis Core and Final Fantasy 7 Remake in preparation for FF 7 Rebirth, but it doesn’t quite fill the hole left by this game. I can’t wait to play it again, but until then, I will gladly talk about and discuss this game.

I’ll keep it somewhat spoiler free, but as for the point of my post and showing all 15 save files is because when I was a younger gamer when this came out 2 decades ago, like most I struggled with the game, even with a Prima Guide. I would eventually get good enough that I could get to disc 4, but never beat the final boss. So I developed this habit as a kid using different save files to replay “levels and missions” that I really loved but didn’t feel like slogging through an entire game to get to. I kept that habit and through the years it has let me experience cool moments in videos games again with games that don’t have a level or chapter select feature. So I present to all of you, my favorite moments in Legend of Dragoon.

Save 1: Is my main game file. It’s saved right before the final encounter where I can take my OP party and dance all over the final boss to watch that sweet ending cutscene.

Save 2: It’s just outside Hoax right before the major battle. That first Dragoon transformation is just so awesome!

Save 3: It’s the Hero tournament! The introduction of Lloyd, Haschel, and I’ve always enjoyed the mini game section afterwards.

Save 4: Hellena Visit part 2, last save point. If you know you know. What a great emotional scene…

Save 5: This is one is kinda random, but I just enjoy watching the boss smack it’s head on that rock when you beat it. It makes me chuckle. Plus it’s one of the few moments where you get an in-game cutscene to see the character models.

Save 6: It’s just outside the Giganto Home. That whole area is just fun and filled with cool scenes!

Save 7: Saved right before I fight the Ghost Ship boss, so I can experience that legendary CGI Dragoon Campaign scene. When I would get stuck as a kid, in any video game, I would load this file up and watch that cutscene to hype myself up!

Save 8: It’s the dance party! I’m a Dart and Shana shipper, cliche I know, but I just wholesomely love this moment.

Save 9: For when I want to watch the Divine Dragon wreck the Crystal Castle cuz that cutscene was epic!

Save 10: For when I want to kick the Divine Dragon’s butt and watch Lloyd do Lloyd things.

Save 11: So I can beat the snot out of Lloyd whenever with my OP party. It’s a great emotional, yet satisfying moment all around.

Save 12: The reveal, the twists, THE CHEESY VOICE ACTING! How can you not enjoy it?! End of Disc 3 is just a roller coaster of emotions haha.

Save 13: Not my most exciting save file, but I like the quiet moment everyone gets to have here, especially how Rose and Dart bond.

Save 14: It’s a tearful reunion, but one of the best we could ever have.

Save 15: Saved at the point of no return, but the optional bosses still live! This one is so that I can just run around the game enjoying the world with some stuff left for me to do in case I want to enjoy the atmosphere of some of the cities and areas. Plus, maybe I can use it show off the world and game to someone who’s never played it and let them run around in a mostly risk free environment.
