Shower thought that I need to know the answer to

This started when I was in the shower and remembered a scene from family Guy whare a guy hired a girl to have sex. And the cops were about to arrest them for prostitution. But he said they where filming it so it wasn't prostitution it was a porno.
Im wondering is this an actual thing people do. Because if so that would be fucking hilarious.
Also it's not a loop hole there are tons of regulations when it comes to porn I just want to know if someone actually tried this.
