USA, California - can businesses discriminate on who they service based on sex?

Post Body

If the federal civil rights act and California’s Unruh civil rights bill prevents private businesses from discriminating based on protected class (including sex) how can a business openly say “women only”?

Context is there is a really good spa/bathhouse I was looking at and noticed the website openly says they only serve women. I understand the reason why and honestly agree with it from a cultural, moral perspective. However, how can this be legal?

If I were to show up and demand they service me and point to the law, could they legally refuse? If they refused, would I be entitled to sue? Are they exempt because of their type of business?
