Long story short, my senior mom lives in a house I own in Alberta and she fell victim to the high pressure sales of a Telus door salesman.
The dude installed a security system with thermostat, cameras, the works.
I got the contract cancelled but he would not come back to uninstall it, so I had to.
As part of the installation of the camera, he drilled a hole through my house from inside to outside to run the wire.
Also, now the old thermostat isn’t working properly and I need an hvac guy.
Do I have any legal recourse here? Against Telus, not my mom: we already had a stern conversation. But can a tenant authorize this type of installation without Telus verifying they have the authority? Can they refuse to undo what they did?
Honestly there is zero way she would’ve been able to uninstall ANY of it on her own, she didn’t even know what they had put in. And now I need to repair the house and the hvac.
This feels unethical to me but apart from that, do I have any recourse?
