Common law spouse and I amicably separated earlier this year. We are from Ontario. We completed a separation agreement (not through a lawyer), signed it and had two witnesses sign it as well. We agreed that my spouse would buy me out of the home and both agreed on a price, which was included in the agreement.
Is there a way to do this without having to go through a family lawyer as well to get an ILA certificate? We literally just want my name off the house and he was going to send me the money via the bank.
My spouse and I assumed we would just need his lawyer to witness me sign the document and that would be the end of it. I inquired with a lawyer as well and they said I need the ILA cert for them to take on this case.
Iād rather not need to pay more money š
