Hi I’m hoping someone can help/give advice because no one is listening or doing anything. My mother is 53 and has a history of drug abuse, domestic violence and both diagnosed and undiagnosed mental health issues. She’s actively been in full blown psychosis for months now. She’s been to the mental health ward multiple times, all by force from the cops/paramedics but she is released every time within 3 days.

I know about the 72 hour hold but she is so manipulative she manages to get out, convinces them she’s fine and goes out and does the same things. She goes through these episodes off and on every few months but this current episode has lasted for so much longer. She went to another province a few months ago and was detained/removed from 4-5 different places by the police in 2 days. Including from her flight home for being belligerent and abusive. Again, psychosis.

The most recent incident that’s causing me to make this post is she was brought to the psych ward a few days ago for throwing glass into the street at pedestrians and vehicles. We thought this is where they were finally going to get a diagnosis or some actual help but no, she spent 3 days in the hospital and was released.

Every time she is thrown in the psych ward and released with no diagnosis or medication. She refuses to admit she has undiagnosed issues. Her doctor won’t listen, the cops won’t listen, mental health professionals won’t listen. Nobody. Our family can’t take it anymore. The abusive messages (text and voicemails) the threats, the fear of her showing up to our doors. The financial blackmail. All of it.

This has been going on my entire life (25 years) and no one has done a thing. She’s escaped taking blame, any type of punishment/repercussions because no one will listen to us or actually force her to get help.

What can my family and i do? Form one’ing her didn’t help. Form 2’ing her didn’t help. We want her to get help, we want peace and quiet. My family is tired of it and won’t deal with the situation or her anymore. I’m the only one trying to figure it out. Any suggestions?
