Got a texting and driving ticket, should I have fought it?

Post Body

So I got a texting and driving ticket last week, the cop pulled up right beside me as I was on my phone texting my mom. I was at a red light for context. He gave me a little honk and we looked eye to eye and I pulled over. I didn’t even see him coming. I didn’t admit to anything or even said sorry but the ticket was $615, which apparently was the minimum fine. Apart of me thought I could fight it but I got caught red handed and I thought “how can I fight this?” “Would the fine be reduced possibly?” “What if the cop still shows up if I fought it?” I paid the fine cause honestly, I realistically shouldn’t have been on my phone. Yeah it’s on my record but doesn’t it go away after a while? If I fought this ticket, what would have been some possible outcomes? Would I still have to pay something but just not as much? My friends were telling I should have fought but I don’t know. I feel content just paying it in all honesty.
