Hey everyone, I tried searching this but there were some mixed answers.
This happened in Toronto.
I got two tickets. One for going 10 over (reduced) in Jan 2022. The other,I failed to provide insurance (I was still covered, but forgot the pink slip at home since it renewed recently).
I requested a trial within the 15 days of the ticket being given to me. Now it's roughly 1 year and 3 months later with no Court date. Address hasn't changed. I looked up my ticket online and it only says that the court date hasn't been given yet and the ticket is active.
Is there any way to get this dropped? Or if there is a court date issued, can I argue that it's been too long? Ask to see the officers notes (assuming he doesn't have them still).
PS: This is my 2nd ticket in 13 years of driving being insured. Both were in an area I wasn't familiar with and in what I consider a speed trap. At the end of the day, it is still my fault but just wanted to explain the circumstance.
