I was born in Mexico and just recently found my biological mother

Post Body

Short version is that I was born in Mexico and my birth was never registered at the hospital or with the consulate. I recently found my biological mother and now I am trying to figure out what action I need to take to fix my documentation. I am 35 and still have no driver's license or ID since I have no birth certificate to present to the DMV. Do I need a family attorney or immigration attorney here? I can't get help from the Mexican consulate as they just tell me "well you can't prove you were born in Mexico so we can't help you", and until now I couldn't do a DNA test with my real mother to work on this.

As far as I can tell I gained US citizenship through birth since she was US born, lived in the US before I was born, and had US residency at the time of my birth. What do I do?

I can fill someone in with more of the details on how I lost my mother at birth if needed.
