I was wondering if I should report something to the department of labor. This may be legal but I am not 100% sure. So I work part-time, I am a permanent part-time, I have an open unemployment claim due to lack of work earlier this year. During a busy time, I wasn't able to work as much due to another job that I had. That job ended three weeks ago I came back and started to work more regularly and starting next week they are cutting my hours, this is due to it being a slower time. They are cutting my hours enough one week where I would be eligible for partial unemployment if I don't get other work that week. I would be the only person getting fewer hours. There are people in that week, who are in my role also part-time permanent, getting 35 hours that week. I would be reporting to the department of labor that I am collecting because there is a lack of work, but it is just for me. I already explained my situation to my employer and asked for more hours, and don't want to accommodate due to promising they wouldn't cut people's hours who were there regularly during the busy time.
I talked with HR and they also aren't sure if this goes against anything, but are going to look into it.
