I'm a server at a restaurant in NYC and my job has been texting me 2 hrs before my scheduled shifts and telling me not to come in. I am wondering if I am entitled to compensation for my lost hours. I've received compensation for work cancellations in the past at different employers, but the right to a predictable work schedule seems to only apply to fast food and retail and I'm not sure if restaurants fall under those categories. I called the department of labor but they weren't knowledgeable. Thanks in advance!
