Victim of a hit and run in NY. I was on a bike and the other driver fled the scene and still waiting on doorbell footage in finding a plate number. HELP!

Post Body

So, I was on my way home from visiting a friend after midnight when someone came and swiped me off my bike and I crashed into the curb, injuring my pelvis, but went to the hospital because of a tibial plateau fracture. I have heard of no fault cases and I’m not too sure what that means. I’m out of work indefinitely as my job just let me go and told me to go on unemployment. I have basic health insurance that probably will still charge me out of pocket after my coverage plus I apparently shouldn’t make any follow up appointments until I either make a no fault claim with my insurance on my own (which I was told is very difficult to do) or start a case with a lawyer which is easier (but how can I be sure that I have a case if the driver who hurt me is not found?) I have found two homes who have camera footage but they haven’t sent it to me yet and they say the quality is not the best so it probably won’t amount to finding a plate number or seeing a drivers face. I am physically and mentally exhausted. I could use any advice I could get. Thank you everyone in advance🙏
