I went to a restaurant/ club on my 21st bday last month and they ran my card twice. Ive been to the restaurant several times, at night it turns to a club upstairs. We were at the quiet downstairs bar. Wasnt super busy down there or anything. Then we went upstairs to the club, i had one more drink and left. I noticed the double charge the next day and disputed it. Here i am a month later and the restaurant is trying to say the charge is valid. I contact the restaurant as my bank advised and they pull receipts, only one is signed and both show same drink for different prices within less than 2 mins of each other(within $1, but that doesnt make since bc both transactions were charged at the exact same amnt, tax wouldve made them different even if within $1 difference). As the girl is reading it off to me on the phone, im thinking “if i signed every receipt but that one, isnt it clear something was unauthorized?” At first i just figured we had a large group so its probably a mix up but a whole other receipt was created and clearly not put in front of me bc i always keep and sign receipts, especially when its $30 for one drink.💀 Essentially, my question is if they choose to again claim i authorized this charge, do i have grounds to threaten legal action since the receipt wasnt printed or signed? Not that i intend to do it (depending on how this is handled) but im starting to feel this mightve been intentional w all the pushback im getting over a receipt i never saw or signed for a drink i never ordered or received and its leaving a really bad taste in my mouth.
