I'm a social worker in Pennsylvania and one of my clients has received an eviction notice due to being $1,200 behind in rent. This woman I work with has a husband, two teenage children, and a dog. They are lovely people but they struggle enormously with their mental health and were recently hit by financial hardship when their car rusted out and they were charged $1,600 for truancy because their kids weren't attending school due to their poor mental health. Then when I visited her last week, she handed me the eviction notice. She's emotionally devastated about it, and if I wouldn't get fired I'd pay the rent for her. I live in BFE Pennsylvania, so there is literally one non-profit in town that doles out rental assistance and they are more than likely drained of all funds at this point. Clearly there is not a legal case to win here, but it there anything I can do with the courts to prolong the eviction so that they can either get their affairs in order or find a shelter?
Thanks.
