Hi all,
I’ve tried writing this post several times, but the Reddit app keeps wiping it, so I think I’m just going to write this out as fast as I can, and feel free to ask me any questions.
Basically, for the past month, I have been posting my referral link to this website using my socials (e.g. Facebook, under relevant videos, Tumblr, under their own posts, mentions, etc)
I gained several dozen referrals ($10 for them, $10 for me, totalling to about $250) and was able to negotiate an email exchange with their customer service.
A few weeks later, I amass about $500 worth and go to request another exchange for another gift card. They are saying that I bring in more referrals than the average customer and ask how I’m doing it.
I tell them I have a social media following (though not extensive) and I’ve been primarily using social media, which is true. During this time, I had also posted my link to a small referral link site, but I don’t think that had a major influence on the influx of people who were using my link.
I don’t hear back from them for about a week. I notice I don’t have access to my referral rewards and my referral link is broken. Then, they finally message me today only after I reached out to them on Instagram, and they tell me that because my link was posted to a referral link site, it went against their policy and have since disabled my referral program account. However, nowhere in their terms and conditions does it detail how the referral program works. In the email today, they said that it is limited to friends and family, not the general public when previously they asked about social media, which literally involves the general public.
Is there anything I can do in this situation? I feel like they are just saying this and focusing on the supposed $700 loss (never mind what they earned) as an excuse not to comp me. Could I get some insight?
