Apartment Has Shared Vents and Always Filled With Cigarette Smoke. I Have Asthma
Post Body

I live in Austin, TX. I started a new lease at my current apartment complex last minute. The new apartment they have me in has smells like a blended ash tray. I started moving in on the 10th and the complex has ran the ozone machine several times since then. They confirmed that the vents are shared with other units, so I suspect that another resident is chain smoking. The breeze way also smells heavily of cigarette smoke. I've been able to stay with friends for a few days during this time but I've slept in the apartment the last few days and I can tell it's starting to impact my health.

I've talked to the apartment complex a lot about this, mainly breaking my lease without paying the fee as it is extremely unhealthy for me to stay here. I asked about this for over a week now and was told main manager won't return until Monday. I can't stay here much longer and was wondering what I can do in the event that they won't let me break my lease or what my options might be in the meantime while I look for a new place, since it's all short notice.
