I recently drove from CT into MA on the highway, and I was surprised to see that about 500’ before my map showed the state line and there was a “Welcome to Massachusetts” sign, a MA state trooper was parked on the median presumably running radar. They were very clearly parked in CT, and granted by the time they got a speeder stopped they’d be in MA. But is it legal to sit outside your own state ostensibly conducting traffic enforcement? I know there are many circumstances in which a neighboring state will grant temporary jurisdiction (pursuits, warrants, etc.) but I highly doubt this is covered.
