I work construction, my current job site is 45 minutes from home and we are scheduled to work M-F from 6am-2:30pm. But these last couple weeks I have been tasked with picking up materials and the work Trailer at 5am in order to be at the jobsite by 6 am. Then we don't leave till 4:30pm(10hr shift). But I still have to haul back the equipment and trailer back too the office so I don't really get off till 5:30ish. So in reality I am working a 12hr shift
I am only getting paid for the 10hrs that I am on the jobsite. And normally I wouldn't have a problem with this if all I was doing was showing up, working, going home after the 10hrs. Not getting paid for the commute. But since I am hauling company materials, shouldn't they be required to pay me for the 12hrs a day or does my time start once I reach jobsite like they claim.
I'm in California if it matters.
