California - is landlord still considered live in resident of property with tenants after landlord has been a live in caregiver somewhere else for 9 months

Tenant lived in property alone for 4 years, agreed to let landlord move in. Landlord moved in for 6 months before moving somewhere else to be a caregiver for a family member for the last 9 months. California law says caregivers are employees, not tenants of house for person they care care for. Is the landlords last residence considered legal resident.
