A few months back, I was in an accident in which the other driver was at fault. They blew a stop sign right into a main road that I was travelling down and caused us to hit them square in the side. My girlfriend and I were in her car, and I was driving. After the accident, we both experienced increased depression and anxiety, and I was concussed and dealt with post concussive effects (nausea, vertigo, headaches), all of which has been documented.
After months of the insurance company moving extremely slowly, directing us to their barely functional website any time we emailed, and just generally not communicating at all, they sent my girlfriend her settlement documents. She was offered $1500, and since we don't have much experience with this stuff and just wanted the process over, she signed.
Now after another week of chasing my settlement paperwork, I found that I was also offered $1500. I feel strange saying it, but I kind of expected a little more due to my injuries that lasted for months and disrupted my life in multiple ways, all caused by their client who is at fault, as determined by the police report. The fact that we were both offered the same amount tells me they're just throwing an extremely low-ball number at both of us to get us to go away. Am I right in that feeling or should I just sign?
