Hi. Apologies in advance if this doesn't belong here My mother has been going to the same Dr for decades. She was diagnosed with MS about 5 years ago but probably had it for 5 years by that point. She had been complaining about all the symptoms for those five years and the doctor shrugged it off. Only after an eye Dr referred her to a neurologist for those symptoms did she get the diagnosis.
Fast forward to about two years ago. She got a chest x-ray and there were white spots on her lungs. Dr tells her not to worry about it. No followups. Not sure when but she also had a tumor on her back that the Dr figures was a lipoma. No biopsy.
About a month ago she goes to the emergency room with a fever and pneumonia (non-covid). They do tests and she has aggressive lung cancer. It's probably spread to multiple other organs but they still have to check.
So, does my mother have any standing to sue for malpractice / negligence? I'd love to see this Dr be forced into retirement. He also failed my mother in law about 10 years ago, but that's prob too long ago to act on. He's also one of those Drs that will sign off on giving you pain pills, Xanax, sleeping pills no questions asked and in unnecessary quantities. But again, I wanna focus on the one issue.
Thanks for any help. No worries if nothing can be done
