Hey all, I recently moved to a small town in Missouri and ended up renting a townhouse from a property management company. Each townhouse is individually owned but all under the umbrella of this management company.
On our first day of moving in, our property manager said that she knew the oven wasn't working. Why she decided to tell this to us the day we moved in is beyond me. We moved 1300 miles out here and it was over the course of almost 2 months, so it's not like it was unexpected we were moving in.
So we let it go a little and she says that she will get a maintenance request in.
Almost a full week later with no contact, they hadn't sent anyone out so we decided to hound them a bit, finally we got a maintenance man to look at it. He says that it's completely busted and we will probably need a new one.
So he puts in a request for a new oven, and almost another full week passes without any communication. Once again, hounding them, they tell out old maintenance man that they ordered a new one and it should be here soon.
Another week passes and what do they send? Another maintence man to try and fix it again, he says the same thing the first guy said and that it's broken and we need a new one. Any time we call them they pretty much blow us off and say they are "waiting for the owner to send the funds"
This has been going on for 3 weeks now, the appliances and utilities are covered in the rent and I have paid them exactly how they have wanted.
What legal action, if any, can I do to help us get a new oven? Microwave dinners and stovetop can only do so much and finding food for our infant daughter has gotten much trickier.
TIA
