Hello everyone!
I was fired for writing a very close of āfriendā of mine and asking him why him and his friends didnāt tip my coworker. Now, I know that this is a big no-no at work, however I did this on my own, off my workās premises and through a private message on social media. I was there when my friend and his friends paid the bill and left my friend a few cents as a tip. My friend was with this girl that comes in all the time and the issue is that this girl is very rude and nasty to waitstaff, always has an issue and never ever tips. Since I knew my friend and he was with this girl, I decided to use social media and privately message him about it. I never once confronted them at work. I even waited until they left to write him a message, so that there wasnāt a scene. Also, I never once said my restaurantās name in the messages, I never threatened, cursed or argued with him, I didnāt do it at work and I didnāt post anything publicly.
My friend told me that his three friends are contacting corporate and he canāt stop them. I found out that him and his friends blew up my actual work phone multiple times throughout the day, lied about a few things to my boss and called corporate on me as well. My boss ultimately decided to fire me when I feel like at the most I should have been written up and not fired.
Anyway, I honestly feel like itās an unjust termination due to the reasons I listed above. I actually know this guy and thatās the only reason I asked him why him and his friends didnāt tip. I would never do that to someone I donāt know and at work.
Do I have any legal options in getting this guy and his friends in trouble? Is there anything I can do?
