I've posted a couple of times regarding my ex husband having a stroke.
We were told by the hospital he was at for two months that he was doing great and the doctor was releasing him, stating he was good to be on his own unsupervised for a few hours a day in his own home. He even told my son he didn't need a medical excuse for an upcoming court date next week because he was fit to go to court. (Traffic court).
We picked him up on Weds, they practically shoved him out the door. No discharge papers, no sitting down with anyone to discuss his needs, etc. They even forgot to give us his wallet.
He gets home and we notice he is not ready to be unsupervised, he falls often, is inconinent, unable to do simple tasks on his own. Within 48 hours he has an episode where he is unconscious and wheezing heavily - his roommate called an ambulance.
He gets to the hospital close to his home and they read over his medical files from the previous hospital and immediately are questioning why the doctor medically cleared him to go home. They admitted him and the caseworker there has been talking to us about all the different resources they can apply for for him, etc - the caseworker at the other hospital told us in no uncertain terms it was up to us to find him insurance, disability, etc. She didn't even make an attempt to help him.
Anyway, doctor at the current hospital advised my son that he most likely has a case against the first hospital. My son wants to consult with an attorney but we need to determine which state he needs to speak to someone in.
We live in TN, ex husband was in hospital in GA (this is the one that kicked him out) and he resides in AL.
